SUMMARY:2023 Annual Business Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Annual Business Meeting of the OCWS will be held on Friday\, September 8th at 7pm.  In striving to be fiscally responsible and reach the most members possible\, the meeting will be presented via Zoom. \nDuring the meeting\, attendees will hear updated information about the current state of the organization\, including our financial condition.  Accomplishments during the last year will be highlighted\, including recaps of our two wine competitions\, the wine auction and the Courtyard at the OC Fair\, as well as plans for the remainder of 2023. \nOur Annual Election of three members for the Board of Directors is upcoming and the meeting will give members the opportunity to meet the candidates who will present their qualifications. \nSign-up for attendance is currently open on our OCWS website under the Events tab.  A Zoom link will be sent to each attendee in advance of the meeting.  There is no cost to attend this Zoom meeting. \nThe 2022/23 OCWS Board of Directors looks forward to you attending as we review the past year and look forward to the upcoming 2023/24 board year.  The meeting will be conducted in accordance with OCWS Bylaws and government regulations for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. \nWe look forward to having you log into this important business event. \nFran Gitsham\, President

SUMMARY:2022 Annual Business Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our Annual Business Meeting is scheduled for Friday\, September 9 at 7 pm. In order to continue our practice of being fiscally responsible and to reach the most members possible\, this year’s meeting will be presented over Zoom. \nDuring this meeting\, viewers will hear updated information about the current state of the Wine Society\, including our financial condition. We will highlight what has been accomplished during the past year\, including a recap of our two wine competitions and the OC Fair\, and discuss the upcoming events we have planned for the remainder of the year. \nOur Annual Election of three members for the Board of Directors is coming up\, and we will introduce you to candidates who will present their qualifications and interests as potential Board members live. There will be time set aside for questions and  answers and Committee Chairs available to provide more insight. \nSign-up for attendance will be open August 1 through our OCWS website under the Events tab. Reminder announcements will also be pushed out to the membership during August. There is no cost to attend this Zoom meeting. \nThe 2021/22 OCWS Board of Directors looks forward to you attending as we review our past year and look forward to the 2022/23 calendar year. SUMMARY:Varietal Hour – Dessert Wines
DESCRIPTION:With the reopening of public spaces\, OCWS is now presenting most of its events in person once again. However\, at the request of our members\, we are continuing to hold the OCWS Varietal Hours via Zoom every other Monday evening in 2022\, beginning on January 10th. The event provides a great opportunity for members to explore new varietals and engage in lively discussions about their favorite wines and wine regions. And it has the added benefit of enjoying it from the comfort of your own home\, without the need to drive anywhere afterwards. \nThe premise of this event is simple. The Varietal Hour committee has chosen a number of themes for the next few months to test your wine knowledge and push you to try things you might not otherwise try. Each attendee is asked to bring to the Zoom meeting a wine related to that week’s theme (you can choose something from your cellar or be adventurous in trying something new from your favorite wine store). Each attendee shares a brief description of their wine during the meeting\, and all attendees are provided with a written list via email of the wines that were shared during the event. Sign-ups for this event are done in advance on the OCWS website and a link for the meeting is emailed to you on the day of the event. \nWe welcome you to volunteer to be the host for one of the open weeks below.
