SUMMARY:Winemakers' Workshop - Wine Blending
DESCRIPTION:Blending different batches of wine is a practice more distrusted than understood.  Blending the contents of different vats and barrels make almost all of the world’s finest wines: Champagne and Sherry are examples of wine\, which are essentially blends.  Jim Graver has conducted these workshops for members of the Winemaker Group\, for many years.  He will lead you through the process of blending and the reasons to blend or not to blend. \nIf you have wines that could use some improvement\, enhancement\, and balance or\, if you would just like to change some of the characteristics\, this is the opportunity to learn more about the fine art of “Wine Blending”.  Get a chance to test your blending skills. \nAfter the instruction period\, the class will be divided into smaller groups to blend wines and create a “Master Blend”.  You will have three wines from which to taste\, evaluate\, and blend.  The blends will be blind-tasted\, to see which group comes up with the best “Master Blend”.  A great workshop to help improve some of the middle-of-the-road wines that may be improved or enhanced with a little blending.  \nThere is a charge of $25.00 to cover materials and handouts (lab fee).  Deadline for sign-up is September 2nd.  Space is limited to 14 students\, so make your reservation early.  \nEmail any questions to: Rob Romano at robertnromano@gmail.com.   \nInstructor\, Jim Graver  \nPlease bring a couple of your own wine glasses to the workshop. \n
