SUMMARY:Bubbles ‘n’ Brunch - The Cannery Restaurant
DESCRIPTION:Our next brunch will be at an old Newport Beach favorite\, The Cannery Restaurant. \nThe story of The Cannery covers 100 years of American history. Committed to continuing their promise of delivering the best and freshest seafood\, steaks and chops\, The Cannery is a historical landmark preserved by Southern California restauranteur Ron Salisbury of El Cholo fame. The historic building was around long before the Salisbury family took it over\, operating as a restaurant on the Rhine Canal. \nIf it wasn’t for local resident Jack Croul\, who saw a dream in the building and its history\, it would not be standing today. In the fall of 1999\, Jack purchased the property back from developers for three times its asking price. Having no knowledge of restaurant management\, Jack connected with Ron Salisbury through a friend. Jack quickly entrusted the ongoing success of The Cannery to Ron and assisted with the costs associated with restoring the building. \nOur brunch will be held upstairs in the Prager Room. \nYou will have a choice of a starter\, a choice of entrée from three selections and a choice of dessert. Coffee\, tea and sodas\, corkage\, tax and gratuity are included. \nThe price for this sit-down brunch will be $82 for members and guests. Parking is valet at $8 per vehicle. Carpooling or ride sharing is suggested. The event will be posted on the website for signups. Space is limited; when the event fills up\, please contact the office to be placed on a waitlist. \nEach person is requested to: \n\nBring a bottle of your favorite champagne and/or wine.\nBring champagne and/or wine glasses.\nPlease wear your OCWS name badge.\nPlease drink responsibly.\n\nBecause we need to contract with the restaurant the attendance count\, the last day to sign up\, make changes\, or cancel to receive a refund is Tuesday\, Oct. 29. Any cancellations after this date will be filled and refunded from the waitlist. \nLooking forward to toasting with you again! \n—Rochelle Randel\, OCWS Champagne Brunch Coordinator

SUMMARY:Intimate Dinner with Al Lago Wines
DESCRIPTION:The OCWS is thrilled to announce that we have the honor of hosting a dinner for Blair Allan and Simone Lagomarsino\, the proprietors of Al Lago wines. Blair Allan and Simone Lagomarsino are a force to be reckoned with.  Their individual levels of passion and dedication have earned them both impressive resumés and a lengthy list of accomplishments.  They have a talent for spotting great potential and this is what led them to purchase their stunning property in the Santa Rosa Valley. \nThey proudly partnered with winemaker Guillaume Fabre who further enhanced the exceptional quality of the vineyard.  Each vine is carefully tended\, hand pruned and picked to   guarantee wines of the highest quality.  Born and raised in the Southeast of France\, Narbonne\, Guillaume comes from a family of grape growers and winemakers. After 24 years in Narbonne\, he moved to Bordeaux. Both regions famous for their wines are also very different from each other. It requires some grape growing and winemaking experience to switch from one to the other\, such as different climates\, soil types\, vine illnesses and more. But life is full of surprises. Not convinced he wanted to make wine in Bordeaux\, he took a harvest internship at L’Aventure in Paso Robles. He is current well know for the fabulous wines of Clos Solene and Benom. \nDinner is $70 for members\, $75 for guests. \nMel Jay \nTreasurer\, OCWS
