SUMMARY:Varietal Hour - South African Wines
DESCRIPTION:If you haven’t joined us for the Monday Varietal Hours\, you are missing out!  The OC Wine Society’s version of a Zoom Happy Hour happens every other Monday evening. We have all learned from each other and tried some wines that we might not otherwise have tried. This event combines the convenience of staying home and enjoying wine with family and close friends. \nPlease join us for this casual event hosted as a Zoom meeting\, with all participants on the screen\, featuring a different wine varietal or varietals and different hosts each week!  Members share details on the wine(s) they are enjoying\, how they acquired the bottle\, and any fun facts about the wine. The event is followed up with a list to all participants of all the wines that were shared. Below is a schedule for the next few months (more dates and themes will be listed in future newsletters). We hope to see you at a future Varietal Hour. SUMMARY:Annual Business Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our Annual Business Meeting is scheduled for Friday\, September 10 at 7 pm. In order to continue our practice of being fiscally responsible and to reach the most members possible\, this year’s meeting will be presented over Zoom. \nDuring this meeting\, viewers will hear updated information about the current state of the Wine Society\, including our financial condition following a year and a half of no income. We will highlight what has been accomplished during the past year\, including a recap of our two wine competitions and the OC Fair\, and discuss the upcoming events we have planned for the remainder of the year\, including in-person activities starting with our Gold Medal Mini-Tasting\, our long delayed Wine Auction\, and a large social event in The Courtyard. \nOur Annual Election of three members for the Board of Directors is coming up\, and we will be introduced to the candidates who will present their qualifications and interests as potential Board members live. There will be time set aside for questions and  answers and Committee Chairs available to provide more insight. \nSign-up for attendance will be open August 1 through our OCWS website under the Events tab. Reminder announcements will also be pushed out to the membership during August. There is no cost to attend this Zoom meeting. \nThe 2020/21 OCWS Board of Directors looks forward to seeing you as we review our past year and look forward to the 2021/22 calendar year. Join us for the OC Wine Society’s version of the Virtual Happy Hour … featuring your favorite Wine Varietals!  All OCWS members are welcome and there is no cost to attend.
