SUMMARY:Wreath Making Class
DESCRIPTION:Wondering what to do with all those wine corks you have stored in boxes\, bags or vases? We are offering a class on how to make a beautiful wreath from wine corks. Once the wreath is complete\, you can add ribbon\, grapes\, leaves\, etc. to make it shine for your décor. I like my wreath to not have any decorations and I put it on a stand on the hall table. \nCost: $40 that includes all materials needed to complete the wreath. The only item we request you bring is a hot glue gun if you own one. If you have certain corks you want to incorporate\, you are welcome to bring those as well.\nPlace: The location will be shared when you sign up.\nDue to space limitations\, the class is limited to 20 people. The net profits will go to the OCWS Scholarship Fund. \nTo join the class: Please email Betty Jo Newell at bettyjonewell@yahoo.com. If you registered and paid at the Spring Social\, there is no need to contact us. We will be contacting you with the address soon.\nHope to see you there! \n—Betty Jo Newell and Alice Polser\, Event Co-Chairs

Winners may pay by cash or with credit cards. \nAgain\, we are fortunate to have the Wine Wall during this event. Buy a bottle of wine for $20! Get lucky and pick an expensive bottle! It’s a great way to try wines and to support the Scholarships. These purchases at the Wine Wall are with CASH only. \nMusic and dancing all afternoon. Once again\, we are so fortunate to have a great DJ to play for us. He will play throughout the entire event! Get you dancing shoes on and be ready to have great time! \nWhat’s a Social without some games??? We will have door prizes and games to keep the fun rolling.  There will also be prizes for the best looks. Since we’ll be celebrating the flowering of Spring\, have fun with the theme and arrive in your smartest Spring attire. Take inspiration from the previous week’s Kentucky Derby\, echoing the vibrant and stylish fashion on parade. \nHere are some ideas: \nFor Women: Large elaborate hats adorned with flowers\, feathers or ribbons.  Spring dresses in bright colors or floral patterns. Statement accessories such as large sunglasses or bold jewelry. \nFor Men: Light colored suits or linen with a crisp shirt.  Fedoras or straw hats adds a touch of sophistication along with a bowtie\, pocket square or colorful tie. \nPrizes will be given out in the following categories: \nBest Floral Frocks:  Couples or Individual Costumes \nBest Use of the Theme “Vines in Bloom”: \nMost Fabulous Fascinator:  Women’s Hat \nMost Debonaire Chapeau:  Men’s Hat \nWhat a fun\, colorful way to celebrate Spring! \nAnother game will be used as an Ice Breaker to provide a fun way for people to meet others. Again\, we will have drawings for prizes for this game! \nAnd WINE!! You are invited to bring a bottle of wine to share with your table and friends. The OCWS is also providing wines for you for the entire event. See below for an opportunity to volunteer to serve the wines during this event.

SUMMARY:Spring Event - Let the Good Times Roll!

On April 6\, from 3-7 p.m. in The Courtyard at the Orange County Fairgrounds\, we will be wining\, dancing\, eating\, auctioning and enjoying good times with our members and their guests. \n  \nNew Orleans is a city filled with history\, superstitions\, religion\, celebrations\, and beauty. Although the date for an official Mardi Gras will have passed\, we will still bring that celebration into The Courtyard\, along with the French Quarter\, the Garden District and the music from New Orleans in our setup. \n  \nTo keep the party rolling\, we plan to have live music\, door prizes\, a silent auction\, incredible food from the Cook’s Caucus and free-flowing wine from the OCWS Wine Cellar. \n  \nGrab your beads\, masks and party attitude and join us for the fun. Tickets are $45 per member and $55 per guest. Watch the Events section of the calendar for the opportunity to purchase your tickets. They do go quickly!! \nParking is free for this event. A parking map will be emailed a few days prior to the event. \nVolunteers will be needed for the sign-in desk\, wine Servers\, set up\, clean up\, food servers and silent auction assistance. We typically raise at least $1\,000 for scholarships each time we have the Wine Wall. \n  \nWe are looking for donations of wine. The wines must be valued at $20 or more. It is so fun to win a great bottle of wine and just as fun to watch people try a bottle you donated! \n  \n The Silent Auction: all proceeds go to the scholarship program. At the most recent silent auction\, we raised just over $1\,000. \nItems to consider donating include: \n\n Wine-related items that are in great condition\, but you may have in duplicates\n Tickets to sporting events\nGift cards\nBaskets\nGardening tools and plants\n Snacks\, cooking utensils\, seasonings\, grill tools\, etc.\n\n Donations can be dropped off to the OCWS office.
