Commercial Wine Competition Volunteers
Competition Volunteer Form
The 2008 OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition will be held the
first weekend in June, 7 and 8, and your assistance is needed. This event is a
wonderful opportunity to meet winemakers, enjoy supporting the competition, and
become better acquainted with other OCWS members.
There are many areas where volunteers are required—stewarding,
glass washing and drying, and data input and verification. A sign-up form is
included in the newsletter that identifies stewarding days, bagging nights, and
other work parties with their times and dates. In order to qualify for
stewarding, you must sign-up for at least two work parties including one of the
bagging nights and one of the other work parties such as moving to and from the
hotel, set-up, and finally, sorting or ribbon mailing. We need your support for
our work parties in order to realize a successful competition. The good news is
we will hire extra help for the heavy lifting during the moves in and out of the
hotel and for the sort. New members are encouraged to participate, as they will
be teamed with competition veterans.
The Commercial Competition provides us with the wine inventory
that is served at the Orange County Fair. Revenue from the sale of wine during
the Fair offsets the costs associated with conducting the Competition and
supports the goals of the Wine Society including our Scholarship Program.
Your volunteer sign-up form is on the next page. The deadline
for receiving your sign-up is April 26. You may fax or mail your form to OCWS.
